چکیده

Permafrost thawing may lead to the release of carbon and nitrogen in high-latitude regions Northern Hemisphere, mainly form greenhouse gases. Our research aims reveal effects permafrost on CH4 N2O emissions from peatlands Xiaoxing’an Mountains, Northeast China. During four growing seasons (2011–2014), situ were monitored peatland under no-thawing, mild-thawing, severe-thawing conditions middle Mountains by a static-chamber method. Average site 55-fold higher than those no-thawing site. The seasonal variation emission became more aggravated with intensification thawing, which peaks larger absorption decreased zero. increased caused expansion layer subsequent increases soil temperature, water table, shifts plant communities. However, did not change thawing. but impact Mountains. Increased this region amplify global warming.

Increased nitrous oxide emissions from Arctic peatlands after permafrost thaw.

Permafrost in the Arctic is thawing, exposing large carbon and nitrogen stocks for decomposition. Gaseous carbon release from Arctic soils due to permafrost thawing is known to be substantial, but growing evidence suggests that Arctic soils may also be relevant sources of nitrous oxide (N2O). Here we show that N2O emissions from subarctic peatlands increase as the permafrost thaws. In our study...

Estimation of methane and nitrous oxide emissions from Indian livestock.

Greenhouse gas (GHG; methane and nitrous oxide) emissions from enteric fermentation and manure management of Indian livestock were estimated from the last two Indian livestock census datasets (2003 and 2007) using IPCC Tier 2 (2006) guidelines. The total annual GHG emissions from Indian livestock increased in 2007 compared to the year 2003 with an annual growth rate of 1.52% over this period. T...

Methane and nitrous oxide emissions from rice paddy fields

Recent field studies in rice paddy fields in Japan and China have shown that N2O is emitted to the atmosphere not only after the application of nitrogen fertilisers under flooded conditions but also in a period from the final drainage to submergence in the following rice-growing season through nitrification or denitrification. Those results clearly indicate that CH4 and N2O emissions in rice pa...

Characterizing Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Methane Emissions from Rice Paddies in Northeast China from 1990 to 2010

BACKGROUND Rice paddies have been identified as major methane (CH(4)) source induced by human activities. As a major rice production region in Northern China, the rice paddies in the Three-Rivers Plain (TRP) have experienced large changes in spatial distribution over the recent 20 years (from 1990 to 2010). Consequently, accurate estimation and characterization of spatiotemporal patterns of CH₄...
